Diet Plan For Kittens | What Do you Feed Kittens? | New-born |

Today's blog post has everything to do with a kitten's diet. This is a well-thought-out, healthy diet. Remember, homemade food is way better than food bought from your local supermarket. It is also cheaper and straightforward to make. Bare in mind that cats that eat a variety of food will have more chance of surviving than a cat that only sticks to one type of cat food.

Specifically, I'm going to be talking about kittens that are around 1 to 4 months old. If your kitten is being fed by its mother, don't give it any other milk. When it turns 1 month old and is no longer being provided by its mother, you can start giving it actual food.

Start off by giving the infant small pieces of boiled chicken. Do this two times a day and let it also be fed by its mother as well.

It has probably grown quite a bit when your kitten is around 45 days old. Continue giving it chicken, but you can also give it the soup left over from the chicken. Other than that, you can provide it homemade food (Click here for the recipe). Don't give the kitten any dry food because it will then suffer from loose motion, which can be very dangerous/life-threatening. You can also provide egg, which is a safe option. The egg must be white, and you must not add the yolk. Only give egg as a snack/treat. (click here for more information on eggs)

You can give a 4-month-old kitten dry food. Get it from a good company! However, there are many side effects, so I recommend sticking to homemade food instead.

Homemade food has many advantages. One is the prevention of dehydration. Dehydration in cats can be very dangerous (click here to read more on dehydration), so homemade food prevents your cat from dehydrating. Whilst we are on the topic of dehydration, I'm here to remind you that clean water should always be readily available for your cat!! Some cats drink more water than others. Maybe get a fountain water bowl if your cat doesn't drink enough water. This may encourage it to drink and make things much more enjoyable. Drinking too much water can also be a cause for concern. There could be problems with the kidney, and so in this situation, you should consult your vet.
