Dehydration In Cats/Kittens | Signs Of Dehydration | Treatment/Cure |

Today we are going to be talking about dehydration. Dehydration is when your cat loses more fluid from their body than gaining. The first thing that happens to a cat when it's affected by a disease is dehydration. A lot of the time, cats pass away due to water loss in their body. This problem does increase in summer. Make sure you read through the whole article because this topic is critical!

When cats drink a small amount of water, their bodies will lack fluid. If you're giving your dry pet food without any moisture, it will also suffer from dehydration. All cats are different; some will drink more water than others.

If your cat drinks too much water, that's also harmful. Often, cats that consume way too much water suffer from kidney problems. Make sure you consult your vet if you are in this situation.

There are a few simple and easy ways to check to see if your cat suffers from dehydration. I have mentioned them below:

1) The first way you can check to see if your pet is dehydrated is to rub your finger across its nose. If your cat's nose is dry, then it is dehydrated.

2)   You can also check the sides of your cat's mouth and see whether they are moist. Obviously, if they aren't, your cat is dehydrated.

If your cat doesn't drink much water, focus on its diet. Homemade food is very healthy and packed with moisture. If you feed your cat dry food, stop doing so and make their food at home. This will be cheaper, and it is not that complicated to make.                                                                              (Click here for the best homemade cat food recipe!)

My kitten hardly ever drinks water, but I give it soup (from the homemade recipe), and it loves it!

Avoid giving your cat dry or jelly food. Cats/kittens that eat homemade food don't become dehydrated when ill.

Another solution to dehydration is getting your cat a water fountain bowl. Cats enjoy drinking from these, and you may notice a change in your dehydrated cat.

You must always have lukewarm, clean water available for your cat. Cats are very hygienic and so may not drink water that appears to be dirty.

Make sure you follow all the things I have mentioned. These things will prevent your pet from dehydrating and increase its lifespan.
