Homemade Cat Food Mistakes | Things Your Doing All Wrong |

Today, I will be going through mistakes owners make when making homemade food for their cats. I made a blog about general mistakes owners make (click here to read), but this one is about errors owners make whilst making homemade cat food. These mistakes can be very harmful to your cat, so read over the whole article!

Homemade cat food benefits your cat because it can prevent obesity and diabetes. We all want our cats to be happy and live life fully. So, you must do everything correctly.

The first mistake owners are making is adding jelly food. I have a blog on homemade cat food in which I give you the recipe (click here to read). Follow the recipe! You can mix in jelly food for the first few days to get your cat used to the cat food. However, slowly decrease the amount you put in. Jelly food can be very harmful. Also, follow the proper method to change your cat's food (click here for the technique). This blog post is critical, so you should give it a read!

Some people add way too much liver/kidney to the recipe. Others add way too much rice and only a few bits of chicken. Quantity is significant. Make sure you follow the right amounts because it can be dangerous for the cat (if you don't).

Another mistake owners are making is adding salt and spices. They are very harmful to cats. Pink/Himalayan salt is also dangerous. You can give iodised salt to your cat, but there's NO benefit. Cats actually can't taste any seasonings, but they will be able to taste the spice🌶! Spicy food can cause your cats to vomit and suffer from diarrhoea. Turmeric can be beneficial for cats; in the same way, it's beneficial for us humans. However, don't give it to your cat daily. You can add some to its food once or twice a month. Also, you can consult your vet and buy multivitamins for your pets.

Now, let's talk about the egg. You can put eggs into homemade cat food but bare in mind that eggs will rot in the freezer. It will become damaging if you are constantly freezing and then leaving to defrost (and then freezing again!). Click here to read a separate blog all about eggs.
