First and foremost, keep the cat and its kindle in a cage that air can reach/go through. Their temperature should be maintained so they don't suffer from fungal infections or other illnesses. Often, newborn kittens get infected by fungal infections because of their weak immune system.
Don't give the infants any water! If they are being fed by their mother, there's no reason to provide them with water. Some people give them multivitamins etc. Don't. However, you can provide the mother with multivitamins to help make it strong and healthy.
Avoid bathing the mother cat after it has delivered its babies. It will be grooming itself; if you wash it, the kittens can be affected because they are mother-fed.
In the wintertime, turn on the heating. Make sure the kittens don't get cold! Cats can get very ill and can also be affected by viral diseases in the colder months. Of course, you can't bathe a newborn kitten. Instead, you can use dry shampoo if need be.
In the summer, ensure the temperature is not too hot or too cold. Don't turn the air conditioning on because it can be dangerous for newborns. Ensure they aren't closed up somewhere, and that air is reaching them. As the kittens grow a little older (around 20 days old), you can start turning the a/c on when it gets boiling.
