All Things Related To Grooming!

Today's blog post is going to be all about things related to grooming! You will notice your cat cleaning itself all the time. Cats are very hygienic animals, so it's generally recommended that you groom a long-haired/medium-haired cat daily. Short-haired cats require grooming about once a week. Make sure you brush through your kitty's hair all the time! Hairballs can form, so you must remove any excess hair. You can get special cat brushes that effectively pick up extra hair.

Some people complain that stuff builds up on their cat's eyes, so it is hard to clean. Clean your cat's eyes/nose with rose water and cotton balls. You can use water, but rose water is better. Make sure you do this daily, or else there will be a build-up. Don't be lazy because then an infection can also be caused.

You can also use tear stain remover. Whatever starch comes out of the cat's eyes won't build up. Tear stain remover helps prevent any eye infection from happening.

If your cat has an eye infection, take it to the vet. You can also use eye drops called 'to rex'. Use them twice daily, and you will start to see some improvement. Tobrex can be used to clean cats' eyes as well as their ears.

Another thing cat owners ask about is whether they can get their cats hair trimmed/cut etc. There are only a few reasons why you can get your kitty's hair cut. For example, if your cat has a skin allergy like fungus, then you should contact your cat's fur trimmed. This is so that you can properly clean your cat and the infection can go away as soon as possible.

You must brush your cat's hair daily because hair mats can form. Hair mats are standard in long-haired (Persian) cats. When a cat sheds, hair can tangle and form knots. In this situation, you may have to trim your pet's fur.

Don't shave off your cat's hair in the summer. Your cat's coat is a protection for them. They know how to cool off during the summer. For example, cats will lie flat on their stomach with their paws stretched out when the heat really gets to them.

The same with dogs. You should never shave off their hair! They go out in the sun and so can get severely sunburnt.
